Parade Tour

It was so slick, so professional; choreography doesn’t seem an apt enough word.

The Parade Tour began in the northern USA as a hit and run tour. Because it was Prince‘s first tour since 1984, it was initially intended to be a world tour but instead was kept a low key affair. Playing small venues and the shows announced at very short notice, tickets sold out fast an in very high demand – some attendees offering as much as $300 per ticket. The Parade Tour proper (also known as the Under The Cherry Moon Tour) began when the shows moved to Europe – where the Parade album had sold better. The tour up-scaled to arenas and was supported by Sheila E., immediately selling out its entire allocation of 150,000 tickets. The tour was plagued with disagreements amongst the band members, caused by the expansion of members of the Revolution line up, and triggered the eventual disbanding of the group one month after the tour’s final show.
